NASA Postdoctoral Program - Space Science: The Environments of Early Complex Life

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on the evolution of multicellular life during Earth's history characterized by profound global change. The project involves developing mineralogical and geochemical tools for identifying depositional conditions and environments of Precambrian sedimentary rocks and distinguishing primary versus secondary geochemical signals. Researchers will work on reconstructing paleoenvironmental conditions from sedimentary rocks and examining the influence of post-depositional alteration on geochemical signals.
