About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on Venus surface-atmosphere experimental studies at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The research explores possible surface-atmospheric reactions through experimental work using high-temperature furnaces and a unique dual high temperature/high pressure system (vici) that enables experiments at Venus surface conditions. The lab investigates chemical weathering reactions at Venus' surface temperature and pressure conditions (740K and 95.6 bar) under carbon dioxide atmosphere. While Venus is the primary focus, the equipment can also be used for experiments targeting other planetary bodies and exoplanets.
