About this opportunity
The NASA Postdoctoral Program offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects. This specific opportunity focuses on wildfire research at NASA Ames Research Center, addressing the increasing challenges wildfires pose to natural and human environments. The position involves research and analysis in data science, atmospheric composition, air quality, ecological assessments, technology development including remote sensing and uncrewed aerial systems, and especially applications as part of the Applied Science Wildland Fires Program. The successful candidate will explore pathways and intersections of research efforts with stakeholder community needs, engaging with partners including the US Forest Service, USGS, Department of Interior, NGOs, and state, local, and tribal agencies. Projects may focus on the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii, and larger international regional areas such as boreal, Arctic, and tropical regions. The fellowship is designed to advance NASA's missions in Earth science through one to three years of postdoctoral research.
