About this opportunity
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on X-ray astrophysics research at Goddard Space Flight Center, including studies of galaxy clusters, active galaxies, and diffuse X-ray background. The research involves analyzing data from major X-ray observatories including Chandra, XMM-Newton, NuSTAR, Swift, Suzaku, and XRISM, as well as developing new mission instrumentation. Research areas include cluster cosmology and astrophysics, AGN spectral analysis, and extragalactic background studies. Fellows will work with advisors who are experts in observational and theoretical X-ray astronomy, contributing to advancing our understanding of large-scale cosmic structures and high-energy astrophysical phenomena.
