National Merit Scholarships

The University of Southern Mississippi offers comprehensive scholarship packages for National Merit Semifinalists and Finalists. These prestigious awards are designated for first-year, full-time incoming freshmen who have been named a National Merit Semifinalist or National Merit Finalist by the National Merit Corporation. The scholarship package includes full tuition for four years, along with housing, meal plans, and educational allowances. Finalists receive enhanced benefits including a study abroad scholarship and increased educational allowances for all four years. Semifinalists are automatically considered upon admission, while finalists must apply and designate Southern Miss as their first-choice institution with the National Merit Corporation.
