About this opportunity
The CIE-National Resource Center Title VI Grant offers a limited number of Study Abroad Scholarships for undergraduates (sophomores and above) or graduate students with a demonstrated interest in Critical Languages as defined by the U.S. government. This definition includes languages taught at UWM: Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, and Russian. The scholarship supports students accepted into an approved UWM-sponsored semester-long, year-long or short-term (Summer or Winter) study abroad program that includes critical language instruction. Undergraduate or graduate students from any major or field of study are invited to apply. Virtual study abroad or internships are also acceptable. Eligible students must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and a demonstrated academic interest in a critical language as shown through coursework/extra-curricular activities. Preference will be given to students who are first-generation and/or have documented financial need.
