About this opportunity

The NC Diversity and Equity in Emergency Medicine Scholarship Fund is sponsored by Wake Emergency Physicians, PA out of a desire to increase the number of underrepresented minorities in the medical field, specifically in emergency medicine. Scholarships are awarded to second year MD or DO students or first-year Physician Assistant students who identify as underrepresented minorities and are attending school in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, or Virginia. Applicants should also either be a resident of North Carolina or intend to practice medicine in North Carolina immediately after completion of their degree program. Awards will be $5,000 per year for the number of years remaining in the student's program (one or two years) and may be used towards any need listed under the school's total cost of attendance. To receive a second year of funding, students must verify they continue to be in good academic standing and that they will be enrolled for the upcoming academic year. Underrepresented Minority (URM) status is based on the federal race code and includes: American Indian/Alaska Native; Black/African American; Hispanic; or two or more races.
