About this opportunity
The North Dakota Space Grant Consortium (NDSGC), through a partnership with the North Dakota Vision Services/School for the Blind (NDVS/SB), awards an annual NDVS/SB scholarship to students with visual impairments pursuing STEM or STEM education degrees. This scholarship program specifically supports students who are eligible for services from NDVS/SB and are enrolled at NDSGC affiliate colleges or universities in North Dakota.
Up to five scholarships will be awarded annually from a collective total of $2,500. The exact amount and number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the number of eligible applicants. This funding opportunity aims to support students who face unique challenges in pursuing STEM careers due to visual impairments.
Applicants must submit an essay of no more than 500 words addressing how their visual impairment has affected their pursuit of a career in a STEM field, including both the challenges faced and potential benefits experienced. The scholarship is open to U.S. citizens who are in good academic standing at participating North Dakota institutions.
The program reflects NASA's commitment to diversity and inclusion in STEM fields, specifically supporting students with disabilities who demonstrate the determination and capability to succeed in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines despite facing visual impairment challenges.
