About this opportunity
Awarded to a Bachelor of Education student in their fall block (September) who demonstrates strong leadership, a passionate concern for the well-being of others, and who combines an infectious sense of fun with a deep commitment to her/his work in the field of Education. The Nellie Aitken Memorial Award was established at the University of Prince Edward Island by the Prince Edward Island Language Teachers' Association to support and encourage aspiring educators, and to provide a fitting tribute to an exemplary Island educator. During her few short years in Prince Edward Island, Nellie Aitken served as a classroom teacher, a principal, and a district administrator. Her strong leadership qualities shone in all of these roles. The award is presented to a student starting the second year of the Bachelor of Education program who demonstrates strong leadership, a passionate concern for the well-being of others, and who combines an infectious sense of fun with a deep commitment to her/his work in the field of education.
