About this opportunity
The Nellie Makokis Carlson Commemorative Student Award honours Indigenous activist, Nellie Makokis Carlson, and all she has done for Indigenous rights. The award celebrates her memory by supporting three hard-working mothers and/or primary caregivers working toward making a better future for their children. This scholarship is specifically intended for Indigenous women, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people who are single parents pursuing post-secondary studies in any field. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and the award is open to all age groups. Three successful applicants are chosen each year, with each recipient receiving $1,000 CAD to support their educational journey and living expenses while pursuing their academic goals.
