About this opportunity
The Ngā Ara Mātua Scholarship supports Ngāti Tūwharetoa undergraduate students at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. This scholarship is co-funded with Victoria University to support Ngāti Tūwharetoa participation and success at the University, aligning with the strategic direction of the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board as outlined in the Mahere Rautaki 2021-2026. Students must be studying in one of four categories that align to the Pou identified in the strategic plan: Pou Taiao (environmental protection and mātauranga Tūwharetoa), Pou Tikanga (maintenance of Tūwharetoa kawa, tikanga, and te reo Māori), Pou Tangata (educational achievement, health, wellbeing, and technology adoption), or Pou Tātāwhai (business management and asset management). The scholarship is awarded to one student per year and provides $2,500 that can be used for tuition fees and/or accommodation, paid in two instalments based on academic progress.
