Nikiforuk Family Legacy Award

The Nikiforuk Family Legacy Award is awarded to students from rural communities in Alberta with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the second, third or fourth year of an undergraduate degree in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science, in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences. Selection is based on academic standing, demonstrated leadership in the community, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Preference is given to students involved with 4-H. This endowed award was established by members of the Nikiforuk family in honour of Nicholas and Katerina Nikiforuk and their children, homesteaders who established their farm near Newbrook, Alberta in 1920, and whose grandchildren continue to operate the family farm which celebrated its 100th year of operations in 2020.
