About this opportunity
The Noel MacAleer Award is presented annually to a graduating student from the Engineering class at the University of Prince Edward Island who displays the positive attributes and qualities of the late Noel MacAleer. The award recognizes students who demonstrate qualities of leadership, motivation, and team spirit through class involvement. Noel MacAleer entered the Engineering Program at UPEI in 1977 and became extremely well-liked and respected by his classmates for his enthusiasm, generosity, and natural leadership ability. An excellent hockey player, Noel's leadership shone on the ice, in the dressing room, and in the classroom. He was known for his genuine desire to make other people happy and his ability to inspire those around him. The award was established by the UPEI Engineering Class of 1979 in tribute to their classmate, whose life was ended prematurely by cancer. This award honors students who embody the same spirit of teamwork, leadership, and positive engagement that characterized Noel's time at UPEI.
