About this opportunity
UWM may remit non-resident tuition, either in whole or in part, for undergraduate students who are deserving of relief from the assessment of non-resident tuition. This application is utilized by admitted UWM students who are not Wisconsin residents under Wis. Stat. § 36.27(1) and are seeking non-resident tuition relief. The award provides relief from out-of-state tuition charges based on connections to Wisconsin, financial need, and educational barriers. To receive a decision about non-resident tuition relief by the start of the semester, students must submit their application no later than seven calendar days before the first day of classes. Students may apply after this deadline for the then-pending semester, but retroactive appeals relating to prior semesters will not be considered. The program evaluates applicants based on their Wisconsin connections (such as high school graduation, residency history, tax filing status), financial need, exhaustion of other funding sources, educational barriers faced, and difficulties in paying for education.
Decision provided by start of semester if application submitted at least 7 days before first day of classes
