About this opportunity

The Longleaf Commitment is a grant program for 2023 North Carolina high school graduates who will attend one of North Carolina's 58 community colleges starting in the Fall 2023 semester. This is a grant - not a loan - that covers tuition and fees toward a degree or to attain transfer credit. Full-time eligible students will receive $700 to $2,800 per year, for a total of two years, while less than full-time students may receive a partial award. The program was established to support students in recovering learning and persisting through to degree attainment despite the impacts of the pandemic. The Longleaf Commitment Grant Program ends at the conclusion of the 2025 spring semester. Eligible students must be 2023 NC high school graduates, North Carolina residents, first-time college students (though Career & College Promise and Early/Middle College High School students are eligible), and must enroll in at least 6 credit hours per semester in a curriculum program. The grant requires completion of the FAFSA and is automatically awarded to eligible students with an Expected Family Contribution between $0 and $15,000.
