About this opportunity

Beginning in academic year 2024-2025, this award will be granted to a veterinary medicine student entering second year who graduated from a Nova Scotia high school and who received the highest grade in Animal Production Systems during their first year of study at AVC. The poultry industry in Nova Scotia is a thriving, sustainable sector that is expected to contribute to the province's rural economies for years to come. Poultry farmers rely on veterinarians to help them maintain healthy flocks and meet stringent national animal care and food safety requirements. The Nova Scotia Feather Boards (Chicken Farmers of Nova Scotia, Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia, Hatching Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia, and Turkey Farmers of Nova Scotia) have established these awards to acknowledge the valuable role poultry veterinarians play within our industry and create awareness among veterinary students of the opportunities available in poultry medicine.
