About this opportunity
Beginning in academic year 2024-2025, this award will be granted to a veterinary medicine student in any year of study who completed their secondary school education in a Nova Scotia high school, has a declared interest in practicing poultry medicine in Nova Scotia, and will be undertaking hands-on, practical training or work experience in any poultry operation (e.g. farm, hatchery, poultry vet practice, research facility) in the current calendar year. Preference will be given to students completing the longest practical sessions. If no Nova Scotia student is eligible, students from the other Maritime provinces, and then from outside the Maritimes, who meet the other criteria may be considered. The Nova Scotia Feather Boards (Chicken Farmers of Nova Scotia, Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia, Hatching Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia, and Turkey Farmers of Nova Scotia) have established these awards to acknowledge the valuable role poultry veterinarians play within the industry and create awareness among veterinary students of the opportunities available in poultry medicine.
