Nursing Discretionary Fund

The Nursing Discretionary Fund is an income-assessed, non-repayable grant available to nursing students at the University of the Highlands and Islands. This fund serves as the main source of extra funding for nursing students who demonstrate financial need. Students must normally be in receipt of a SAAS (Student Awards Agency Scotland) bursary in order to qualify for an award. The fund comprehensively evaluates all household income and expenditure, and awards grants to students who demonstrate a significant deficit between their income and expenses. The standard maximum award is £500, with the possibility of receiving an additional £500 depending on individual circumstances. Applications are accepted throughout the academic year with no specific deadline, providing flexible support when students need it most.
