O. E. och Edla Johanssons vetenskapliga stiftelse was established through a donation from the Johansson couple in 1974. The foundation awards stipends for research, preferably within natural sciences, technology, and medicine. Stipends are normally given to researchers with a PhD, but not for equipment, studies, travel, or personal support. The stipend amounts are normally 25,000 - 150,000 Swedish kronor per year and can normally be received for a maximum of 3 years. The funds must be requisitioned to the applicant's workplace/institution and acknowledged in publications. For renewed applications, the foundation expects a brief report on previously received stipends, such as publications.
