About this opportunity

The Ocean Ranger Memorial Award commemorates the tragic loss of 84 crew members when the Ocean Ranger Exploratory Drilling Platform sank on February 15, 1982. Established by the Ocean Ranger Disaster Fund, this memorial award program provides financial support to students pursuing post-secondary education at Memorial University of Newfoundland, the Fisheries and Marine Institute, and the College of the North Atlantic. The award is valued at $500 per year and is tenable by students who are entering or currently pursuing their studies. Selection preference is given to widows and lineal descendants of the disaster victims, including children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In the absence of eligible candidates from this primary group, the award may be offered to other full-time students at the discretion of the Ocean Ranger Award Selection Committee.
