About this opportunity
The One Basin Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) offers attractive PhD packages across multiple universities in Australia including the Australian National University, Charles Sturt University, Flinders University, The University of Adelaide, The University of Melbourne, and The University of Sydney. Four PhD scholarships will support PhD candidates enrolled at ANU, focusing on critical water management research in the Murray-Darling Basin. The program offers up to 4-year scholarships including a 1/2 year internship with an industry partner. Research projects cover economic analysis of water banking and managed aquifer recharge, achieving multiple benefits through water system operations, incorporating First Nations' values and knowledge in water assessment tools, and optimal cross-scale irrigation operation using data science and automation. Candidates will be based in one of the following research hubs: Loxton (South Australia), Mildura (Victoria), Griffith (NSW) and Goondiwindi (Queensland) with associated node in Narrabri (NSW). The program seeks to achieve gender balance and particularly encourages applications from Australians of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander heritage.
