Oscar Ekmans stiftelse för Sverige i Utlandet

Oscar Ekmans stiftelse för Sverige i Utlandet was established in 1909 with the original purpose of helping emigrants return to Sweden and preventing Swedes from leaving the country. As the reasons for emigration and immigration have changed significantly over time, the foundation's purpose has been reformulated through permutation decisions and is now primarily to strengthen ties to Sweden, especially for Swedes living abroad. The foundation provides financial grants for teaching about Sweden in Swedish schools abroad, for teaching the Swedish language at foreign universities and schools, and for scholarships to children and young people of Swedish descent living abroad for education and higher education in Sweden. Applications for grants or scholarships from any of the six foundations are made to the respective foundation. The foundations only accept applications via the web. Meetings are usually held four times a year, with the next meeting scheduled for March 20, 2026.
