Otago-Southland Award

The Otago-Southland Award was established by the NZIF Foundation in the 2015/16 year from funds received from members of the NZIF Otago-Southland local section. The award is designed to assist or enable projects of relevance to forestry in the Otago-Southland region of New Zealand. This is a declining fund, with awards continuing only until the available balance is exhausted. The award provides annual funding of $2,000 to support forestry-related projects, research, or educational activities within the specified geographic region. Past awards have supported undergraduate and graduate forestry students working on topics such as seedling detection using deep learning, log export analysis, and mechanised cable logging productivity analysis.
