About this opportunity
The Oxford Brookes Gaza Scholarship was established in 2009 by Sir Iain Chalmers and Dr Paul Brankin OBE to support talented Palestinians in Gaza. For many ambitious young Gazans, there are no local opportunities to progress as higher education beyond Bachelor's level is not available in Gaza. This scholarship offers a practical way of supporting talented Gazans to make their mark on the world by providing them with the opportunity to study for a Master's degree at Oxford Brookes University. The scholarship is co-funded by the British Council's Higher Education Scholarships for Palestinians (HESPAL) scheme, with Oxford Brookes University raising approximately £14,000 annually from individual donors. Since 2010, scholars have gone on to make significant impacts in fields including environmental sustainability, journalism, refugee support, cancer treatment, and digital technology. Applications are usually managed through the HESPAL scheme, though no open call is expected for the 2025/26 academic year as a student is already scheduled.
