About this opportunity
This scholarship has been established by the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies to provide funding for UK students from Muslim communities. The Centre was established in 1985 to encourage the scholarly study of Islam and the Islamic world, providing a meeting point for the Western and Islamic worlds of learning. The scholarship is designed to support outstanding students pursuing undergraduate degrees at Oxford University. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need to students ordinarily resident in the UK from Muslim communities. The scholarship covers course fees at the Home rate and provides a grant for living costs of at least £6,050 per year. Up to 5 scholarships are available annually for students beginning their undergraduate studies across all subjects except medicine and PGCE. The award duration is 3 or 4 years depending on course length. Scholars are expected to write reports on their academic and social activities, and continued receipt of the award depends on satisfactory academic progress. The scholarship may be held in conjunction with Oxford's Bursary or Crankstart support, though other funding sources will be taken into account when determining the award value.
