About this opportunity
The Partners Life Actuarial Scholarship is awarded to students studying Actuarial Science or related quantitative disciplines at Victoria University of Wellington. Partners Life, a New Zealand operated life and health insurance company founded in 2011, established this scholarship to support students pursuing careers in the actuarial profession. The company's actuaries work at the heart of their business providing valued insights into pricing, valuation, capital management and business strategy.
The scholarship is open to both domestic and international students currently enrolled in their second year or later of a BSc or BCom degree, majoring in Actuarial Science and intending to complete the major. Applicants must be studying Actuarial Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or a similar major. The award provides $5,000 to $7,500 to be applied toward tertiary fees for the current year.
Preference is given to candidates intending to stay and work in New Zealand in the actuarial profession after completing their studies. The successful recipient may also be offered an internship at Partners Life over the summer break, subject to business requirements. Recipients are expected to write a thank you letter to the donor and provide an end of year progress report.
