About This Opportunity

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans provides merit-based funding for New Americans—immigrants and children of immigrants—who are poised to make significant contributions to US culture, society, and academia. Each year, the fellowship invests in the graduate education of 30 New Americans, providing up to $90,000 in financial support over two years. Fellows join a lifelong community of over 835 New American Fellows representing 103 countries of heritage, connected by the shared experience of being an immigrant or the child of immigrants in pursuit of higher education and growth in their respective fields. The fellowship emphasizes creativity, originality, initiative, and sustained accomplishment through a free merit-based selection process. Fellows have pursued careers across diverse sectors including medicine, science, law, policy, technology, business, government, non-profits, the arts, and academia. The program aims to empower New Americans with resources to further their education, benefiting both the individual recipients and American society as a whole.
