Paul P. Fidler Research Grant

The Paul P. Fidler Research Grant is open to those planning to conduct research on college student transitions. The comprehensive award package includes a stipend of $10,000, priority consideration for publication in the Center's Journal of The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition, registration to two national conferences hosted by the Center, and more. The grant competition is open to faculty, staff, and graduate students who plan to conduct research on issues of college student transitions. Entries can be submitted for an individual researcher or a team, with Ph.D. and Ed.D. students strongly encouraged to apply. Up to three finalists will also receive priority consideration for a National Conference on Students in Transition presentation session and registration waiver within a two-year period of notification. Proposals undergo masked review by an external review board of leading research scholars and practitioners in higher education, with finalists' proposals blind-reviewed by a panel of scholar-judges selected from the Center's Advisory Board.
