Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarship - Secondary school graduates

The Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarship supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students pursuing undergraduate teacher education qualifications in Australia. Named in honour of Dr Pearl Duncan, the first Aboriginal school teacher in Australia trained at a tertiary institution, this scholarship provides generous financial benefits and the opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience in a supportive environment while studying full-time and after graduation. Applicants must complete Year 12 in the current year and commence or continue an undergraduate Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program in the following semester. Recipients must commit to teaching in a Queensland state school upon graduation for a minimum service period based on the duration of scholarship support. The scholarship is valued at approximately $40,000 total over 4 years of study.
