About this opportunity
The Peter Collett Distance Student Bursary was established in 2008 from the estate of Peter Collett, a school teacher who began studying by distance in 1946 and continued into retirement, earning a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education among other qualifications. This bursary provides financial support to distance students facing financial hardship who are pursuing undergraduate degrees in any subject at Massey University. The bursary awards $2,000 NZD to four recipients annually, with a one-year duration. Recipients must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents who have successfully completed at least 30 credits via distance learning and are currently enrolled in 30 further credits as distance students. The bursary is intended for students undertaking their first university qualification who can demonstrate financial need. Selection is based primarily on financial hardship, with consideration also given to academic achievements and evidence of good character.
