About this opportunity
The Peter Hawkins Food Technology Scholarship was established in memory of Peter Hawkins who passed away in June 2024. Its purpose is to help the recipient become part of the New Zealand Food Industry, something which was dear to Peter's heart. Peter founded Hawkins Watts Limited, one of New Zealand's most respected and successful food ingredient businesses, in 1992. Peter was passionate about the food industry and was a member of the New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology (NZIFST) since 1977, including stints on the National Executive Committee, and was also the Chair of the Auckland Branch. This scholarship endeavors to continue that passion by supporting fourth-year students enrolled in the Bachelor of Food Technology (Honours) at Massey University. The scholarship includes a paid work opportunity at Hawkins Watts and is designed for students committed to working in New Zealand's food industry.
