About this opportunity

The Peter Nicol Russell Postgraduate Scholarship provides financial support to outstanding master's by research and PhD students in mechanical and mechatronic engineering at the University of Sydney. Established in 1896 from a gift from Sir Peter Nicol Russell, this scholarship offers a supplementary stipend allowance to students who have been awarded a Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship. The scholarship provides $5,000 per annum for up to three years for PhD students and up to two years for master's by research students, subject to satisfactory academic performance. PhD recipients may apply for an extension of up to 6 months, though no extension is possible for master's recipients. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in mechanical and mechatronic engineering within the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering. The scholarship follows the Research Training Program application process and is awarded based on the applicant's RTP application, area of study, and research proposal. Selection is made by a committee consisting of the Head of School and at least two other senior faculty members.
