About this opportunity
The Peter Turner Scholarship was established in memory of the late Peter Turner; esteemed author, editor, publisher, curator, and former teacher at the Wellington School of Design. While in New Zealand he contributed to public knowledge and understanding of the medium of photography through writing, teaching, public lectures, and curated exhibitions. This annual scholarship honours and remembers his special regard for those photographic practices he termed lyric, personal, or poetic documentary. The scholarship supports students entering their second year of the Master of Design, Master of Fine Arts, or the Master of Māori Visual Arts who have a strong lens-based practice. Successful applicants will preferably have a creative lens-based practice underpinned by social, cultural, political, or community concerns. The scholarship provides $5,000 NZD for one year to support full-time postgraduate study in contemporary photography.
