About this opportunity
This ARC Linkage industrial-based PhD project is defined in partnership between RMIT University and industry partner and aims to address the common issues of 3D-printed thermal energy management devices (TEMDs) in a corrosive medium. To achieve this purpose, an innovative plasma electrolytic coating technology will be combined with advanced nanomaterial synthesis and deposition for fabricating robust coating layers for TEMDs. It is expected that the outcome of this project will significantly enhance the corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, and thermal conductivity of the part. Such coatings will provide considerable benefits, including reducing system lifecycle waste, and manufacturing costs. The successful candidate will be based at RMIT University's Melbourne City campus, but frequent travel is required between various campuses and industry sites across Victoria.
