About this opportunity
This PhD scholarship focuses on investigating the circular economy transition in Australia's fashion and textiles industry. The project aims to address unsustainable resource consumption and waste generation through an industry-focused approach. The research will delve into materials, design, manufacturing, user-centric data, and disposal/end-of-life options to establish normative definitions for the industry partner. The project involves a comprehensive literature review, followed by quantitative and qualitative research including surveys, interviews, and focus groups with industry, government, and research bodies. This will be complemented by Product Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to identify systematic interventions and reform options. The research ultimately aims to investigate potential mechanisms, processes, and organisations through which systematic change in the fashion and textiles industry can be influenced and achieved.
