About this opportunity
A project-specific PhD stipend is available for 3 years to support a PhD candidate to assess the effect of HIV/SIV reactivation in the brain following interruption of antiretroviral therapy. This research project aims to investigate HIV/SIV reactivation in the brain following interruption of anti-HIV therapy. The scholarship provides financial support for a doctoral candidate to conduct research in biomedical sciences, specifically focusing on understanding the mechanisms and implications of viral reactivation in neurological tissue when antiretroviral treatment is discontinued. This project will involve in-person laboratory activities both at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia and the Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute, Oregon, USA. Candidates will have to travel and live in the USA for a period during their candidature, providing international research experience and collaboration opportunities.
