About this opportunity
This PhD scholarship is suited for motivated graduates in chemical engineering, materials science, or environmental engineering with an interest in sustainable technologies and circular economy. The project focuses on innovative resource recovery from plastic and electronic wastes, aiming to extract critical metals, produce carbon nanomaterials, and recover energy using advanced thermal and chemical treatment processes. Through a combination of experimental work, process optimisation, and material analysis, the candidate will develop and assess pathways for transforming complex waste streams into valuable resources. The research will contribute to reducing environmental impact and enhancing the value recovery potential of e-waste and plastic materials. The project provides numerous development opportunities including access to lab-scale and pilot scale experimental rigs, developing numerical models and process modelling skills, and working closely with industry partners through internship program.
