About this opportunity
The ARC Research Hub for Intelligent Energy Efficiency in Future Protected Cropping (E2Crop), started in 2025 as a multidisciplinary research team of 4 universities and 12 industry partners. It aims to pioneer solutions in renewable energy, plant quality enhancement, intelligent greenhouse monitoring and analysis to drive forward the vast potential of protected cropping and secure our future food supply. This PhD scholarship seeks a motivated student to work on a project involving energy modelling, materials research, optical design optimisation, prototype development, and field testing to assess plant growth, energy generation capabilities and parasitic energy usage to maintain optimal growing environments in greenhouses. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a positive difference that could help shape Australia's food supply through innovative research in energy efficiency and agricultural technology.
