About this opportunity

This PhD scholarship opportunity aims to develop near-infrared quantum emitters in diamond as a platform technology that may ultimately enable long-distance quantum networks, integrated photonics, and deep tissue biosensors. The project will involve incorporating various elements into the diamond lattice via ion implantation, high-energy irradiation, and high-temperature processing of diamond samples. The optical and quantum properties of the fabricated samples will be investigated using state-of-the-art research facilities available at RMIT. Two scholarships are available: one will focus on experiments, and one scholarship will include both theoretical work and experiments. Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field of science or engineering.
