About This Opportunity

This PhD project aims to investigate the biomechanical effects of the transfemoral hole characteristics on femoral bone integrity following hip replacement surgery. Using finite element modelling (FEM) to simulate different hole configurations and validating these models with cadaveric femur specimens, this study will provide crucial insights to optimise surgical techniques and improve implant longevity. The research will focus on biomechanical analysis of orthopaedic procedures, specifically examining how surgical hole characteristics impact bone integrity post-surgery. This scholarship supports doctoral research in the field of biomedical engineering and orthopaedics, with applications for improved patient outcomes in hip replacement procedures.
