About this opportunity
This PhD scholarship supports research in developing novel methods for clustering mixed-type survey data (binary, ordinal, count or continuous). The project aims to create new methods for clustering mixed-type survey data and calibrate the relationship between derived cluster memberships and proxy data sets to make cluster membership predictions for entire populations. The candidate will join a Marsden-funded project titled 'Making Predictions Beyond Model-based Clustering' and work with a research team consisting of experts in categorical data analysis, computational methods, and models for ordinal data. The scholarship provides full funding including a stipend and tuition fees for three years of doctoral study at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand.
