About this opportunity
This PhD studentship is in the field of Multimodal Representation Learning in Biological Data, jointly hosted by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Imperial College's I-X initiative. The research will explore multimodal representation learning in biological data, focusing on finding the synergy between artificial intelligence and large-scale multimodal high-content screening data. The project will create innovative multimodal representation learning techniques beyond supervised learning for more efficient and accurate inference of biological relationships amongst genetic and chemical perturbations. The research is at the intersection of artificial intelligence and medicine with potential to impact AI-enabled drug discovery and bring significant benefits to the pharmacy industry. The studentship includes full tuition fees at Home or Overseas rate and a stipend of £21,237 per annum. The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering ranked 1st in the UK (Engineering) in REF 2021 based on the proportion of world-leading research.
