About this opportunity
This PhD studentship is jointly funded by EPSRC and Andrew Moore & Associates, focusing on large-scale spatio-temporal systems in the maritime sector. The project aims to optimise sensor and actuator placement in systems such as bulk grain transport and oil spill management to minimise uncertainty and achieve control objectives. The research will integrate feedback control with advanced data-driven and physics-informed approaches, enhance system modelling through data assimilation techniques, and develop robust control strategies. The student will work at the Control and Power Research Group at Imperial College London with opportunities for industry collaboration and a secondment at Andrew Moore & Associates. The position offers comprehensive funding including tuition fees at the Home rate, an EPSRC stipend of £21,237 per year plus a £5,000 annual top-up from industry for four years, support for research expenses, travel to conferences, and collaboration visits.
