Phillip Lawson Memorial Essay Prize

The Phillip Lawson Memorial Essay Prize is awarded to a student with superior academic standing entering the third or fourth year in the Faculty of Arts majoring in History at the University of Alberta. Recipients are chosen on the basis of academic standing and through the best written essay in British History. Preference is given to essays involving empire or colonial issues. The award is funded through endowed funds established by friends and colleagues of the late Dr. Phillip Lawson. Students are automatically considered for this prize based on their completed General Application through the University of Alberta's scholarship portal.
