About this opportunity
The Physics Department Undergraduate Summer Research Awards consist of two funds supporting undergraduate physics research at UMass Amherst. The Edward S. Chang Endowed Fund for Undergraduate Research provides research grants for undergraduate physics majors pursuing physics research projects under faculty guidance. Students submit brief proposals with faculty advisor assistance for projects completed during an academic semester or over the summer, with awards based on scientific and educational merit and proposal quality. The Professor Kenneth Langley and Joan Langley Research Fund for Future Physicists provides summer research awards to undergraduate physics majors working in a Physics lab. Eligible recipients are rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors with no minimum GPA requirement. Both programs emphasize helping students learn how scientists seek research funding while supporting meaningful research experiences under faculty mentorship.
