Pickering Fellowship

The Pickering Fellowship provides funding for graduate school and internships to participants as they prepare academically and professionally to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service. The program offers up to $42,000 annually for two years to support graduate education at a US-based institution. The fellowship is designed to prepare participants for careers as Foreign Service Officers, with a focus on recruiting diverse candidates. Women, members of groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and students with financial need are especially encouraged to apply. Recipients commit to a five-year service obligation with the Department of State's Foreign Service upon completion of their graduate studies.
