About This Opportunity

This scholarship was established in 2025 by a gift from Port of Brisbane to support and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students to access and succeed in their tertiary education at the University of Queensland. The scholarship provides financial support of $10,000 for one year to eligible students demonstrating financial need. Port of Brisbane is committed to reconciliation and investing in initiatives that enable and result in meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The scholarship is part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme at UQ and is available to both undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students across all study areas. Preference is given to students from South-East Queensland, those enrolled in Preferred Approved Programs, and those who have completed at least 16 units in an Approved Program.

Review process

Selection considers demonstrated financial hardship, personal qualities including leadership potential, academic ability, and other factors relevant to future academic success.
