About this opportunity
The University of Birmingham offers Postgraduate Chancellor's Scholarships providing £10,000 awards towards tuition fees for the first year only of a full-time postgraduate taught masters programme starting September 2026. These competitive scholarships are available exclusively to students who are nationals or domiciled in Nigeria, Ghana, or Kenya. The scholarship is intended for students applying to taught postgraduate programmes at the University's Birmingham (Edgbaston) campus.
To be eligible, candidates must have an excellent academic background with a 2:1 or above in a bachelor's degree or equivalent, have received an offer from the University and selected Birmingham as their firm choice, meet academic conditions, be classified as overseas fee payers, and have paid their £3,000 deposit by the stated deadline. Students must also have sufficient funds to cover living costs and other expenses not covered by the scholarship.
Applications must be submitted through one of the University's approved local representatives in Nigeria, Ghana, or Kenya by the deadline of 30 June 2026. Selection is based on academic merit and a 250-300 word summary on 'Why Birmingham'. The scholarship can be combined with the £5,000 Postgraduate High Fliers Scholarship. Students receiving full government scholarships or alternative scholarship awards are not eligible. Distance-learning programmes, MPhil, MRes, PhD programmes, PGDip, PGCert programmes, and Birmingham Business School programmes are excluded from this scholarship.
