About this opportunity
This scholarship provides financial assistance to PhD research students within the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney, focusing on disease ecology and epidemiology. The scholarship is funded by an Australian Research Council (ARC) project specifically examining the wild-domestic animal interface and microbial spillover risk. Recipients will receive a stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate for up to 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. The scholarship supports research at the intersection of wild and domestic animal health, with emphasis on understanding disease transmission dynamics. Successful candidates must hold at least an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) or Master's degree in related fields including diseases of wild and/or domestic animals, animal ecology, animal behaviour, epidemiology, biostatistics, or related disciplines. The award includes standard research student benefits such as 20 working days recreation leave and 10 days sick leave annually.
