About This Opportunity

The Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Melanoma and Skin Cancer Research has been developed to support an outstanding postgraduate research student at the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney to undertake research in melanoma. The primary objective of the project is to develop and validate a non-invasive early diagnostic, stratification, and classification method for melanoma. This innovative approach involves the utilisation of samples obtained from patients through the use of adhesive tapes. These samples will be subjected to cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based proteomics techniques, which will provide valuable insights into the protein composition and molecular characteristics of melanoma. Additionally, the project will incorporate advanced machine learning algorithms and bioinformatics analyses to extract meaningful patterns and identify potential biomarkers associated with melanoma progression and prognosis. By combining these multidisciplinary approaches, the research aims to revolutionise the field of melanoma diagnosis and contribute to the development of more effective and efficient diagnostic and stratification strategies. This scholarship is supported by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) University of Sydney.
